Tails Up

These Hooded Mergansers win my choice for todays photo because I have never noticed what fancy tails they had before. I will have to look back at all my shot of them to see what they normally do with their tails because this looks strange. 
It was a rather dull day but not raining for awhile out there so time for a walk to the lake. I saw the Eagle pair hanging out very near the nest yesterday and today so I am wondering if it is getting close to time for an egg to be laid. I haven't seen any mating happening, but perhaps they are being very private about it. I have sat watching them for about an hour each day and have been treated to a food delivery to the nest at about 5:40PM and then an intimate dinner together before flying off to .......somewhere in the forest nearby for the night. No photos because the area was just too dark with gray sky and the area where they live is shaded by the tall trees.
