Virginia Opossum

My friend Pam - fellow volunteer at The Wildlife Center of Virginia - took this today with my phone to commemorate my first official holding of an adult mammal. I am fully vaccinated for rabies and thus able to get an opossum out of it's crate for the vets to work on. 

He is not a happy opossum. Very guarded prospects for his recovery from whatever is wrong with him. He was starving and seems neurological. Fingers crossed.

I shy away from photos of myself, but this was a *moment* worthy of a blip to mark the special day.
