Carnaval

 The hike today crossed a section of a large, flat (hot!) agricultural valley and ended in the village of San Martín Tilcajete. People there celebrate their version of Carnaval on Shrove Tuesday.  Young men and boys paint their bodies with motor oil or silver, don scary masks and belts of bells and run through the streets making as much noise as possible!
