making a stink

The drain outside the kitchen window is blocked and the water has backed up and is now level with the patio.

Before I can play with the drain rods (you do have set of drain rods don’t you?) I have to bail out the water.  I try an old ladle but it’s too wide, so resort to making something suitable.  

Anniemay donates a tin can, previously housing sweetcorn and I find a length of aluminium strip that just happened to be lying around in the  ‘you never know when this is going to come in useful’ pile in the garage.  

I screw one end to the can and bend the other end over to form a makeshift handle.  I decide to blip it before using it.  You don’t want to see it afterwards.

It works well enough and I recover a bucket full of  ……… delicacy forbids me from describing what’s in the bucket.
