New President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo

Days after being elected Feb 8, 2017, Farmaajo has appealed to the international community to help raise 825M in US dollars to prevent the famine crisis from growing worse. As of Feb 2,2017 the World Health Organization has warned that Somalia is on the brink of its 3rd famine in 25years. The WHO has requested $9,822,815 for the first half of 2017 this aid will assist 1,482,000 people .
