Pop-up museum

A marquee popped up in the car park today - Street Life is touring the area with displays of photos and items from WW2 relevant to the village they are visiting. Only for half a day but there seemed to be quite a lot of interest - not only from those who could remember, but also younger people. Folders of original cuttings from the local papers showed many photos of people, places and events and there were also transcripts of recent interviews with local people who related their experiences of the period.
A representation of just how little constituted one week's ration of essential food items caused amazement and disbelief - I heard one young man, surveying the single plate of food which was a week's ration, say 'I could eat all that for one breakfast!'
