Museum

Today is our last day in Ubon.   This morning we visited the local Museum.  It explained how this area of Thailand was originally part of Laos and Cambodia.  It contained quiet a lot of archeological exhibits and domestic pots.  Outside they had a dug out boat that was found in the local river, spelt Mun but pronounced Moon.  Also there was this horse-drawn vehicle that that was used to smooth road surfaces.  Next time you go past a road works have a look and you will notice that this is system that is still in use today.
This afternoon we took a drive around the country side.  It is very flat and we saw instances of farmers burning the rice stubble.  Also lots of cattle grazing on the unburnt areas.  A lot of the cattle were tethered,  which looks quite strange, but then it becomes obvious that if left to roam they could easily wander on to the road.
