A great catch

The cicadas have emerged in large numbers since we were last at the beach house. One unfortunate provided an enterprising spider with quite a catch. The cicada had died by the time I saw it, and was lying immobile in the web.

If you look closely you will be able to see through the near wing and on the viewer's side of the far wing a round grey-green object. The spider. Her legs can also be seen. She was either laying eggs in the corpse of the cicada, or still poisoning it. Later today, the cicada was still there, and the spider was not.
