Fivers

I'll be sorry to see the paper fiver go,
along with Elizabeth Fry.
The plastic replacements are so
unfoldable, trying to fly
from our purse or clutch.
Don't like them much!

I think it's a cunning plan,
this decision to end 'em.
It's the government's way
of persuading us to spend 'em -
the paper ones, before they cease
to be legal tender;
the plastic, to quickly relieve
us of each offender.
