Bronto attack just north of Gold Beach, OR!

One of the most interesting things we learned on this trip was that, contrary to popular belief, dinosaurs are NOT extinct. They are alive and thriving in the state of Oregon, as evidenced by Rich's near death experience when a rogue apatosaurus attacked him in a parking lot today, just north of Gold Beach.

I can wholeheartedly say that I would love to make this journey down Oregon's Hwy 101 a yearly pilgrimage. The winding path that 101 takes as it hugs the coast, compels you to travel at a slightly slower pace, while to your right, the brilliant blue waters of the Pacific, with its jagged stony peaks, white foamy surf, and misty salt air, are simply intoxicating.

The volunteer guides at Oregon's state parks are outstanding. From yesterday's tour at the Tillamook State Park, to today's guided tour of Cape Blanco Lighthouse, (the oldest lighthouse on the Oregon coast), the passion for the subject matter, and breadth of knowledge displayed by our guides was inspiring.

Now in Grant's Pass, we must begin our drive northward, stopping tomorrow in - - Stonehenge!
