Penicuik House
In need of some fresh air we went down to Penicuik House and ambled down through the sheep field to the Low Pond to see what signs of Spring were appearing and pottered about by the bridge over the North Esk.
Well, if their frogs have arrived they were making themselves scarce as we saw none, neither was the heron in evidence, which would indicate that we were too early. The sheep in question did not appear to be expecting lambs anytime soon, if at all, but we did see a nice patch of snowdrops.
On the way back we peered through the few glazed windows of the house, which face onto the view over the valley, reflecting the clouds in the blue sky but reveal an empty space behind, as the house is but a shell.
