California Dreamin'

We are finally on our way to Yosemite! Three previous trips were foiled by bad weather. I love this cross section of the state: on the left is an orchard, just beginning to blossom. I think it's almonds. On the right is grazing land. Right down the middle is the open road, heading straight into the snow-capped Sierra.

Yosemite Valley has several inches of fairly soft and slushy snow, with a forecast of hopefully clear skies somewhere in the next couple days. We walked to the amazing falls, slip sliding on the path. There are rope boundaries everywhere to try and corral visitors to the trail, as there are deeper snow drifts and fast rushing water everywhere. Tomorrow we intend to take the shuttle bus up to the higher country to ski and snowshoe.
