Old Rags

Back in the UK I needed a walk to stretch the stiff legs after yesterday's excesses. I visited a local nature reserve that I had not been to before called Dryhill that was a quarry for Kentish Ragstone until the 1950s. The Ragstone appears here in bands with a softer rock (Hassock) in between that trees seem to be able to get their roots into. The Ragstone  itself is very hard has been popular for building churches since medieval times and is still quarried elsewhere in Kent. That's your geology lesson for today
