A long day
And the longest cross-country-ski trek we ever did. The tracking app showed 45.5 km and 660 metres ascent (and of course another 660 m descent).
It's the last day with this excellent weather (clouds & snow expected for tomorrow), and therefore we decided to try some new, more remote routes and destinations. The goal was the ski trail café at lake Huttujärvi. We started after breakfast, and being earlier than usual we were almost all the time alone on the trail. Still cold in the morning, with beautiful white frost on the trees. On the picture left/below it's a open wilderness hut, the place called Kapusta. Finally right/below our destination, the café at lake Huttujärvi. It was just a big room with a few tables and the owner serving beverages and a few simple things to eat. We had hoped to get a warm soup before returning, but there was only cold food available. Anyway, the salmon sandwich was delicious. We took it easy on the way back, but quite tired now.
No way to walk more today, so we decided to stay in the cottage and cook our own dinner. One exception: we did a few steps out of the front door to watch some Northern Lights later this evening.
