Boys on the balcony

 
This photo was taken in the 1940s of the boys on the balcony of Craig-y-nos Castle, the children’s TB sanatorium in the Swansea Valley.
 
 It was believed then that TB could be cured by exposure to fresh air and very cold weather.

Now students from the Film and Media Department of Stirling University are making a documentary about The Children of Craig-y-nos.
 
What has surprised them is the reaction from folk they have mentioned their project to:  nearly everyone can recall at least one member of their family who was afflicted with this disease. 

Their project is self-funded and they need a £100 to reach their final target of £1,000 through crowdsourcing.
 

The appeal has only six days left to run to raise it which include paying the castle, today a boutique-wedding hotel, for filming there.
