Did the Earth Move for You, Too?
Last night at 21:13. I guess in the UK it was too early for such things. Happened about 150km from here but luckily the only witness seems to have been a cuckoo clock that stopped ticking. While it didn't rate in the top 10 with it's rather average 4.6 score it was still worthy of a place in the news, not something the very secret Swiss are much in favour of.
Apparently the Alps are actually very young and still active, even if the largest earthquake in our area was in 1356 at Basle. They say it that event were to be repeated today, there would be 1000's of deaths.
Although the tremors were capable of being felt in the Allgäu part of Germany, there was no signs of it here although I had my concerns about the seemingly abandoned tractor seen on our way to Ottobeuren this morning.
Think it was the only tractor seen on Tractor Tuesday. The April weather of wind, rain, sleet, snow, sun and everything in between, there was no good reason for any farmer to be out & about.
For the evening walk, drove over to Erkheim to get the horses 20kg sack of carrots delivered to the local riding club. Their building is very close to the bankrupt EVG agricultural merchants and equipment suppliers, above all the biggest New Holland dealership in the area. Tomorrow the 10 day sale of the biggest branch here in erkheim starts and will no doubt attract large crowds. We saw a team of 6, setting up a very large car park on the adjoining fields. I won't be going tomorrow as it will no doubt be a bit like Harrods on Sale Day.
