Bowood 2017 #2 (Monday 6th March 2017)
My second footpath walk up to Bowood Lake was slightly sunnier than the first a month before, and along the way I saw a buzzard, a red kite, some herons, a great crested grebe or two and the entire contingency of their Canada geese.
There was a white van parked outside Pillars Lodge in contravention of their parking rules and as I walked along the driveway Lord Lansdowne pulled up and asked me if it was mine. I didn't use the opportunity to complain about Bowood's abysmal customer service and tell him why I wasn't renewing my membership, but wished him on his way. He was still driving up and down on my return walk, but when I got back to Archie (parked considerately on a verge on the other side of the road) the van had gone.
I'm afraid this is another swan blip, but it is the first this year of Bowood's breeding pair, and I found them further south than I have seen them before, close to the footbridge over the lake. They came ashore and grazed right in front of me. A little later they were up by the palladian bridge next to the driveway.
