all existence rising
Keeping the Andrew Greig theme going - here's a segment from within the pictured 1994 volume:
In the Debatable Lands
I lay against the standing stone
hard by the ruined keep
where pee-weets
like thoughts made black and white
tilted and were gone ...
and my mind went back and forth across the border
until one night there was a blue
amphitheatre of clouds round the moon
and naked speechless unarmed
I rose through that arena ...
I opened my eyes
Impossible to say
what had changed
but each pebble, grass and curlew cry
seemed weighted
as if it shyly bore within
all existence rising.
I saluted the morning
and packed my tent.
