I was mightily surprised to find an online document about project planning and resourcing saying something along the lines of "if there's just the odd one day of holiday here and there, don't fuss about putting them in the plan" which is just begging for trouble. Maybe such techniques are already used, resulting in the relative frequency of having to gently remind someone that a delivery date can't be then because there would be no deliverer.
