Pore

As a companion photo to Gill from Friday, I thought I'd do a similar shot today showing a different type of spore-bearing surface. This is a type of bolete, similar to a penny bun, but this one has a red stem and a darker, more matt cap surface, so I'll do a bit of work to find out which one it is. The Russula from Friday, I reckon was a humpback brittlegill (Russula caerulea) but they are pretty difficult to identify exactly, so that's my best shot.
I went down the valley for an hour to see what was about, and was surprised by the number of butterflies - mainly speckled wood, but I also saw heath brown and comma. The heather is blooming now and the bilberries and blackberries are ripe. It's my favourite time of year.
