The Ripening Time
I managed to get home from work in time to catch the last of the evening sun slanting through these tomatoes.
The speckles of green on the yellow tomato reminded me of a book I read as a child, too young for the dark tale of three generations of a Glasgow family.
However it has stayed with me all these years, it must have touched me deeply.
Sunday 2nd September.
Thanks to Google and an excerpt downloaded onto my new Kindle (thank-you G), I have found this book. From the date of publication it seems I was not as young as I thought (fourteen not nine), so my memory has played tricks on me, but the few reviews there are suggest that it was not just the teenage me who found it compelling.
