Me and My Shadow

This rather battered Red Admiral was very obliging this afternoon, settling on the edge of the river wall several times in the sunshine. The muddy coloured background is the river, pounding down after the rain, and the snow melting. It really is a spring day down at our altitude, what a contrast to the last week. The hedge bottoms and banks are full of spring flowers and we have frog spawn in the pond!
