The Snow Maiden

To the Lowry at Media City, Salford to see Rimsky Korsakov's The Snow Maiden, an Opera North Production last performed in the UK some 60 years ago. Orchestra good and the set was magical, but not impressed by the libretto - poorly translated into English, and statically delivered. Also too much recitative and too few tunes. But you takes what you gets, and the evening was greatly improved by wine and food (a Morrocan Tagine)at Café Rouge.
