Eyes

This is part of a carved Malagan Post from Papua New Guinea which I came across in the Australian Museum. I found it quite haunting, especially the eyes, one of which I focused on - hence the nose being out of focus. The eyes were only really noticeable when I stopped to look at this artefact properly, but once observed they were the part I felt most drawn to.
