inspired by fun and fine weather

The weather was perfect for street theatre today. No-one was going anywhere fast. The main road was closed to traffic and people of all ages were enjoying unusual happenings. There was a giant gardener putting on an extraordinary floral display, an escaped wheelchair making overtures to another wheelchair and two large parakeets wandering among the crowd. At the other end of the town, evening entertainments were all fully booked and our artist in residence was making a brave attempt to build an igloo out of Kendal Mint Cake.

I was struck by how children from a very young age were so absorbed. The credit must go not only to the performers but also to the organisers and sponsors of the Kendal Mintfest.
