It's all about me...and me...and me....and...

While I'm aware this may just be me turning into a grumpy, ranting old so-and-so, I am coming close to losing it with people's obsession with selfies (stick-enabled or otherwise).

We took the ferry across to Macau today. The historic centre of the city is a UNESCO World Heritage site, and quite rightly so. But here at the ruins of St Paul's, as at every other location we visited, the vast majority of the crowd appear to have no interest in the monuments except as a backdrop to their own vanity. I could play the sniffy serious photographer and moan about how their frenzied crowding around to snap themselves makes it impossible to capture a decent shot...but honestly, their antics and the sheer number of them makes it impossible for ANYONE to simply appreciate and enjoy the splendour of these beautiful historic sites.
