Highly Unsprung

Fintray Sheltie Stakes 2012

Big Birthday week starts and it's our annual trip to the volunteer run, weird and wonderful fundraiser that is the Fintray Sheltie Stakes. I secured my mother of the year award by queueing for an hour while the others spent their dosh on the stalls, so Tess could then swan in and spend two minutes on a horse. As you can see by the smile, she felt it was worth it. Last year's blip was them hanging out of the sunroof when we parked up. This year, when it came to the wee train ride, it was just me and Tess, it's a bit of a ritual now. Bizzarely, we didn't even watch the shelties race this year, but i'm sure the kids and their tiny wee yet fairly stocky steeds did just fine.

The sun always shines for the Sheltie stakes, don't know quite how they manage that, but i love the fact that the veggie burger queue has two people in it (one of them being me), while the meatfest bbq queue could ring the racing field twice. Sam got top score at the golf stall, we got a phonecall later saying he'd won the grand sum of £15. Hopefully we'll be back again next year in the sunshine for Sam to defend his title.

Cake on the way home, of course, via a long detour.
