Bridges over untroubled waters

After such a good week away, today is about sorting out and preparing for the week ahead.

But first, we thought we would head out for a short walk to our nearest attractive rural area. Walking along the River Weaver is always pleasant, and today was no exception. Heard the first chiffchaff of spring, and lots of skylarks were up in the air singing. Our resident birds get their breeding season started early, before the migrants arrive in force next month. It is the "early bird catches the worm" principle.

The viaduct over the Weaver carries the main West Coast line. It's impossible to tell from a photo which way one of these Virgin trains is going. This one is heading north - Glasgow bound perhaps. The smaller footbridge crosses  a section of the old course of the Weaver, navigation requirements required a straight course, so the meander was by-passed.
