each carbon heart
Picked up this 1998 (hard back) compilation recently - and thoroughly enjoying reading through the myriad poems ...
... here's one I particularly like:
The Gift
Only flowers are fair enough
A diamond plays a frigid part
For remnant s of forgotten worlds
Lie fossil in each carbon heart -
The languished hope of faded dreams,
Dark torments of nether reign.
Brighter than gems from Opher's keep,
Rich petals on the flowers glow
Softly beneath their diadems
Of falling rain or brush of dew,
And out to winter's end they go,
The little buds of all delight,
To springtide's fete and summer's call.
