We have a German nanny

4 days before I'm going back to work, we have found a nanny for Mia. And she is a paediatric nurse, on top of it. We almost did not invite her to meet us because we had already decided on someone else. But then we did and she was awesome. Mia started laughing and talking with her straight away. Johanna is really confident with her and Mia continues to hear German all day.
Johanna is travelling with her boyfriend and will be with us for at least three months. It's quite costly, so most of my pay will actually go towards paying her. But, even if we did get a spot at the childcare centre, we are much happier that Mia has someone to look just after her. One of the other nannies that we saw works at a childcare centre and said that all the little ones are struggling and it affects their attitude.
We have registered with a nanny share agency. So once Johanna leaves, we will hopefully have found another family with the same needs who we can share a nanny with. It's less expensive and because these nannies will be registered, we can claim a child care benefit from the government.
