Not yet spring

Moscow is enjoying an early spring this year following a very cold winter.  But not early enough to go boating.  This image taken from the Aeroexpress moving along the Moscow Canal - on my way back to the airport for a short trip to Azerbaijan.

Back in 1917, George V, first cousin to the Tsar, weighed in from Buckingham Palace:  "Heard from Buchanan (the British ambassador) that the Duma has forced Nicky to sign his abdication and Misha (Nicholas' brother, Michael) had been appointed Regent and after he has been 23 years Emperor. I am in despair."
