Strategising

Coming together as a group of volunteers is not easy. There are so many different personalities, backgrounds, approaches and agendas. We've most certainly had some less than ideal moments, but people's commitment to the cause carries them through.

We've invited a 'guest' volunteer, a friend from work who specialises in supporting organisations with strategic planning and development. When small community organisations grow organically and reach a certain size, it becomes clear a review and possible restructure are needed in order to be as effective as we can in our mission to support the integration and flourishing of resettled Syrian refugees (and others). Sara on the left, talking to Sue from the group, can help us with this. Tonight we had a prep meeting where Sara was sussing out how we function together and what we want to achieve moving forward. This could be a good turning point in our evolution.
