Summer

The best day of the week according to the experts. Must have been close to 20°C and with no wind. Should have concentrated on garden work but had an old issue with my 1965 John Deere which needed to be sorted before the tractor season starts. Our fields were under water a week ago but have dried out quite well and I need to tackle the "ploughed" up field the horses have used all winter.

The tractor has been losing some diesel somewhere where I can't easily get to see. Means removing the bonnet which is a horrible fiddly task. 50 years ago they liked nuts and bolts, the more the better. Nowadays one often has similar problems with modern cars, the manufacturers "building-in" difficulties so that one is forced to visit the garage for simple maintenance tasks, such as changing a light bulb.

Once off, quickly found the problem. Two washers on the diesel spray nozzles were no longer doing their job. I managed to find a fix but will have to order new ones. While at it, did lots of small jobs around the tractor to get it in good shape.

Luckily could do all the work outdoors and enjoy the lovely sunshine.

Good news today - the State of Bavaria today lifted the barn ban for birds and poultry. So by evening the two male ducks spotted yesterday in our stream were able to return home, no longer under threat of being locked up. Thank heavens the stupidity is over.

Yet again no photo all day until the evening dog walk where we spotted a Fendt pulling a chain harrow to prepare a grass field. It was nearly 7:00pm, the sun had long disappeared under the horizon but the camera managed to reflect the still relative light west sky in the cabin windows and the tractor was very close to the buildings.

I am pretty sure that the tractor belongs to Brigitte and Thomas Wetzler who run a farm shop. On the Blip map this is shown to the right of my location,

Tomorrow morning at least also due to be great before the rain arrives for a very wet and windy Saturday. Then it slowly gets better again. Guess the grass fields will be pleased.
