Boats In a Field...and the rescue of a Barn Owl
Not what you normally expect to find bordering a field, the explanation is that there is a boatyard a few metres away.)
B and I very much enjoyed the circular Bayfield Bird Walk in the pretty Glaven valley today. We were both excited to come across a Barn Owl sitting in the field on the other side of the footpath. However our excitement turned to dismay when we realised that the owl was poorly and unable to fly, see link to Bom's blipfoto below:

We reported it to the man in 'Cley Spy', the binocular shop nearby. He got straight onto the Owl and Hawk Trust, who came out and picked it up straight away and took it to the local RSPCA hospital.
We have since heard that it wasn't injured but was severely malnourished, it is hoped that a rest, some water and food will enable them to release it back into the wild very soon.
