Rob Roy Way
I got my own way last night. Something that's never allowed at home. We slept with all the blinds open. It was a cloudy night, so very little moonlight but the main sensory experience was the noise of the storm coming up the loch towards us. The waves sounded like they were getting closer and the wind whistled through the metal wires of the balcony's railings. It's slightly disconcerting being in house on stilts as it sways in the wind. But what a view to wake up to (once I put my specs on). Trees, loch with white topped waves and Ben Lawers, also white topped against a blue sky. And still the whistling of the wind.
We braved the weather forecast and lucked out. 20km walk to the falls of Acharn, then the rob Roy way to kenmore for lunch and back along the road. Some serious gusts of wind, some big hills but very little in the way of the wet stuff. The loch side at kenmore was more like a coastal scene with huge waves rushing the shore. Then back for chilling, watching the ducks and a pheasant at the doorway too.
The winds pick up again and the bed shakes gently as the lights go off. The owner claims the engineering term is "lively". Not the usual way one expects the bed to be rocking.
