Summers last hurrah

Tending to the garden this afternoon, it is eveidently very clear that the drought of 2012 has caused many plants, trees and bushes to go into protective mode. They are wilting out and dropping their leaves to store energy for the next, hopefully for them, more moist season.
I have continued to keep the plants in pots wet, however I must consider the happiness of the water well and be conservative with water. Rain is forecast for this week and we are crossing our fingers here in Northumberland.
