Old Money

Silver pennies to be precise, dating from about 1280, found in the old Jewish quarter of Colchester. It is thought they belonged to a money lender.

They are on display in the Castle (dating from around 1000AD) which is now home to a museum which I visited today (corrected 29 Mar, thanks to JohnEdward), it is built on the site of a Roman temple from around 50AD
