A sense of place ......
..... making the most of a weekend in Edinburgh we made our way to the Joan Eardley exhibition at the Modern Art Gallery and well worth the visit it was too - I loved both the Catterline sea and landscapes (which I hadn't seen before) and the Glasgow children (some of which I had seen before but hadn't realises/internalised that they were painted close to where I was born (Rottenrow) albeit a few years before).
We then went grave hunting in the Dean Cemetry looking for the grave of Robert James Blair Cunyhame (my 3rd cousin 3 times removed who had married into the Crabbie's Ginger Beer Family). I had downloaded a picture of the grave and was showing it to Mr T when I realised that I'd stopped right in front of the one I was looking for ! We then went looking for other Crabbie graves which took us the new extension. My great grandmother Euphemia Blair was a distance cousin and poor relation to RJBC, her mother being an servant to Robert Blair of Cronan who didn't marry Euphemia's mother nor the mother of her half-brother.
