WINDMILL RENOVATION
Had the motivation to have a bit of a clear out today. Neil's old bedroom is packed full of his possessions. Stuff from his childhood until now. Every time he left home he only took a few of his things. And every time he came back home to live he brought more. And so his old room just became a dumping ground for everything. Today I cleared out a load of old video tapes. And I took an "executive decision" and put some of his old clothes into a charity bag which is being collected tomorrow. I have been asking him for years to sort through the clothes and decide if there were any he wanted to keep but he never bothered. So hard luck Neil - too late now. Still loads left but I will slowly clear them out as and when a charity bag arrives. ( I will of course keep to one side anything I think he really might actually want to keep and check with him before I let them go )
I walked down to the village this afternoon to do a bit of shopping. Took a detour through Chase Park so I could get my shot for Derelict Sunday . This old windmill dates from 1720 and it has been in a state of disrepair for years. A couple of years ago the park was awarded lottery money of around £1 million pounds. Finally work has started and walls are being replaced, new paths are being laid down and the old windmill is being renovated. Further improvements will be made over the next 3 years including:~
• Restoration of the entrance gates and ornamental gardens
• Remodelling and enhancement of the existing toddler play area
• Resurfacing of tennis courts
• New facilities to include improved teenage play and skateboard area
• Outdoor gym/trim trail
• Development of community garden and orchard
• New street furniture, signs and interpretations/artworks of heritage points of interest.
Sounds good doesn't it. The park has been neglected for many years as the Council had no money to spend there. So things are looking up.
Thanks to AngelsShare who has been hosting " Derelict Sunday ".
Just finished watching Vera. Enjoyed it. So many possible suspects - and red herrings. Brenda Blethyn is excellent as Vera. Great scenery too.
