Embrace

After yesterday's brutal butchery, all that is left of poor Hilda are stumps and her "Plant Nanny".  The Plant Nanny is an ingenious device which keeps the soil steadily and evenly moist whilst the plant owner is away doing more interesting things.  It has a spike which is inserted into the dirt, and then a filled bottle is inverted into the opening at the top, and the water gradually seeps through the terracotta and slakes the plant's thirst.  Hilda clearly had a loving and passionate relationship with her clay nourisher.  I was amazed to discover that she had grown one of her roots all the way around it, hugging it tightly to herself.  It made me feel kind of bad about the vicious way we treated her.

In other news, our (old) apartment is 99% packed up and waiting for the arrival of the moving men tomorrow morning.  It's sad to see the place so empty and bare!  The next few days will be very busy and long, so I apologize in advance for lack of comments and potentially spotty blipping.
