Mickey today

Hi all, today Mickey got her first injection again, given by a vet (Bas van Haaften) at the DAP drechtstreek clinic near my home.
It was about 7 minutes by bike to go there, so... Perfect!
Funniest thing was, that the vet wanted to give Mickey the injection without cleaning the spot on her breast with some alcohol.. He he.. He sure wasn't used to inject a parrot. I nicely asked for it, and I am glad he did it before injecting Mickey. I held her myself. Without a towel, yes.. Mickey is such a good and brave birdie!

This morning her weight was 170 grams, tonight 164 grams. Tomorrow she will get another (second) injection and probably Wednesday a third one... If her weight still didn't go down to about 150 - 155 grams.

This vet had a very strong solution of the Furosemide (50 ml/mg) so she got about 0.08 ml in the injection. Dr. Yvonne van Zeeland suggested to buy a bottle of this stronger fluid fighters to give this also in the beak. We did this before, but with the 10 mg/ml solution she must be giving so much per time, that was not handy and that didn't work that good too.
