Brothers
Monday already! The days are flying by. At least Steve was dressed by the time Gran and Grandad arrived; and to a certain extent Charley was dressed as well. We spent the morning pootling: Ben occupying Grandad, and Charley sleeping.
Steve went out for lunch to see if he could drum up a bit of business for Footlight Audio (his new thing - look it up on Google!) and we had not very much, I had not really prepared lunch as such. Ben was excited about preschool starting again - but less so about it starting today, while Gran and Grandad are here.
So rather than force the issue we went to the park instead where it was Very Hot Indeed and Ben and Grandad went round playing, Charley crawled around finding all the discarded food (the drawback of sitting at a bench) until Gran came back from the shop with drinks and blueberries of which he hoovered a handful up.
Steve met us at the park and we decided as it was such a perfect afternoon we'd have a barbecue for tea, only when we got home we discovered no charcoal in the shed and - as it is now September - no charcoal in the shop either!
So more burgers and sausages for tea, cooked indoors. While Steve was cooking the boys were playing with water and getting a bit drenched, poor Charley's teeth were chattering even while he was laughing at Grandad!
Quick dry and change and in for dinner. Ben had a record (for him) 3 sausages. Charley had a good attempt at dinner, gagged a few times, grumbled, and was offered a wooden spoon to chew on which he grabbed out of my hand and hurled away onto the table. SO he was cleaned up quickly and offered a boob and was fast asleep within 30 seconds!!
Ben decided he wanted a bath after tea so Gran was let loose with him in the bathroom. It sounded like they were having lots of fun! Charley was transferred to Steve to try and avoid a repeat of last night's inconsolable screaming, so I got to actually finish off the laundry for a change!
And now both boys are in bed asleep. Ben said, each time he came upstairs to try to go to sleep, "I'm sad now, they're going now. I'm going to miss them." Even though Gran and Grandad are coming back in the morning!
Finished backblipping at last too - hurrah!
