Pittsburgh
We got up fairly early, and headed for the Steel City.
First we stopped at an old mill and covered bridge. We got there at 9 a.m. By 9:05, I had taken a tumble down some slippery rocks and skinned my knee. Only my pride was hurt.
Got to Pittsburgh only to be thwarted by a Labor Day parade. Lousy workers! Who do they think they are? Mandy, my GPS girl...was going nuts. RECALCULATING...RECALCULATING. Poor girl. We finally got to the top of this inclined railway for the great view.
Also found the Cathedral of Learning at the University of Pittsburgh. What a place for a study hall!! If I could have had a building like that...I might even had studied. They have 20-21 rooms that are called Nationality Rooms. Different rooms for different countries.
Finally...we found the new national memorial for Flight 93...the plane that went down on 9-11. The memorial is in its infant stages. It is a very simple memorial for the 40 heroes who fought the hi-jackers, knowing they were going to die in the process. A 10 foot slab of white marble for each of the passengers and crew.
All the rest of my pictures I put on my Flickr page. We are in Chambersburg, PA., about 25 miles from Gettysburg. The battlefield on the morrow.
