Out on the streets at night

I have been trying to reproduce an effect similar to freespiral's Times Past but have failed miserably in spite of multiple attempts. My wife then suggested I work with colors as my primary subject. This hasn't been easy either, and today's blip is the best I could come up with. 
I find this week's EP-challenge much more challenging than EP1. Double exposure/image overlay doesn't work with the trial and error method. You need much more planning and the ability to compose an image mentally before you go out and actually shoot it.
