WARM SCARF

Essential equipment on a quick visit to a widowed friend in Northumberland.  Her husband was John Caffrey, a childhood friend of the Professor and well known wildlife painter.   His wife generously gifted us with one of his paintings (extra) - we already have several of his bird paintings.  He was such an unnecessarily modest man. 

There was an interesting moment on the M74 when the wipers seized up in high wind and sleet.  Fortunately they responded to the old computer trick - switching the ignition off and on again. 

Turning the radio on the way home we were saddened by the news from London.
