A close call!

We got off the bus just before Parliament Square and walked past the House of Parliament to Westminster Bridge where we stood to decide whether or not to go on the London Eye.  Having decided to stick to our original plan to walk along the Embankment  we stopped to take this and several other pictures.  At this point we noticed the traffic had stopped on the Bridge and lots of blue flashing lights.  We saw hundreds of Police (many of them heavily armed) in every kind of vehicle imaginable - traffic cars, motorbikes, unmarked cars, buses, vans, boats, helicopters, all with lights flashing and sirens blaring followed by Ambulances and Ambulance cars all heading for the spot where we had been standing just ten minutes earlier.  Scary indeed.  We realised something serious had happened and as the afternoon progressed and we followed our plan to visit the City we realised how lucky we had been to stick to our plan.
Lots of pictures of new and old architecture later, footsore and weary, we headed for Haymarket to wait for the bus.  After half an hour listening to the helicopters overhead a young lady told us that according to her "App" our bus route had been closed.  What to do?  McDonalds to the rescue to have something to eat and waste an hour in the hope that the bus might be running later.  Another good plan!  Three hours later due to diversions and volume of traffic we arrived back at our motorhome.  Weary but safe!
A tragic day for some unfortunate families.  We never thought we would see anything like this and hope that we never will again.
We will certainly have lots of good memories of London and the kindness and consideration of the people we have  encountered on our excursion to the capital.
Apologies for the lack of thanks for your much appreciated comments and stars for yesterday's blip!
