Mrs E and I took a short stroll to visit the International Tsunami Museum. A rather sobering and humbling experience as it provides an indication of the devastation wreaked by the tsunami of 26th December 2004, not just in Khao Lak, but also in many other countries in SE Asia . The Khao Lak region was the hardest hit area in Thailand with over 4,000 fatalities and more than 3,000 more who were never accounted for, plus thousands who were injured. Unofficial estimates suggest that the figure was actually closer to 10,000 deaths. In all, over 280,000 people lost their lives to the tsunami.
