Planet or Star...

Over Scotland tonight, there was a wonderful clear sky with a beautiful sliver of a crescent moon.

If you look closely (I am not terribly well endowed in the magnification department) in the bottom left of the picture, it was accompanied by a very bright celestial object.

Does anyone know if it was a planet or a star?
