Mis-hits or long shots?

end up here!  The culverted Salmon's Brook is being cleaned out where it runs under Edmonton Green Shopping Centre and this man was cleaning  a number of golf balls before putting them in a large sackful, which is just out of shot. I can only assume they have come from duffs, shanks and sundry mis-hits on the two golf courses this stream runs by.  And the puzzle is - they are over a mile from here.  Maybe JimBob79 can help.
