BT can be efficient

Having reported a fault on the line on Mother's phone at about 11:30. We rang again 15 mins later to book an engineer and risk the £129 you have to pay if the fault is on your property.   While making the appointment the doorbell rang and it was a BT engineer asking if we had reported a fault.
That is pretty efficient- 15 minutes from reporting the fault to the man turning up at the door.
It took him another 2 hours and he found 4 faults from  corroded contacts,  mouldy connections  and faulty wires. No wonder there had been so much interference on the line you could not hear people speaking. And poor old Mum had bought a new phone thinking it was her old phone.  And no £129 bill.
